USDA / OES
The USDA, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the OES, the American Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental Scientific Affairs, are two separate factions of the United States federal government that often work together to create policy on the protection of land and sea.
The Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs is run by the United States Department of State. The jurisdiction of the OES is everything that relates to scientific and environmental factors in the Oceans. This actually refers to all of the oceans in the world, not just the two that surround the United States. The reason that it is often attached to the USDA is because it does what the USDA does to agriculture and meat to fish and seafood.
The United States Department of Agriculture is its own department within the federal cabinet. This department receives roughly one hundred billion dollars per year to regulate various policies on all food grown within the United States. Among the USDA's many responsibilities, is to protect food safety, preserve natural resources, and assist farmers in their needs. The USDA's jurisdiction is massive and it employs more than one hundred thousand people in various sub-departments within the branch.
The Department of Agriculture was developed by President Lincoln in the mid-eighteen hundreds. In the late eighteen hundreds, the Department of Agriculture became part of the executive branch with its own appointed secretary that sits in the cabinet. The USDA has more than twenty inner departments such as the Forest Service, Rural Development, Foreign Agricultural Services and Wildlife Services. In 2008, the USDA began a program to promote renewable energy. This program involves the distribution of just thirty five million dollars to various farms and businesses to allow them to buy energy efficient equipment.
